XNA European Tour

Yesterday we went to Microsoft XNA European Tour conference in Belgium (more likely in Mechelen). A very interesting conference. Let’s take a closer look at the schedule.

1 ) Opening keynote from Dave Mitchell, Director Microsoft XNA
2 ) Game industry in Belgium from Tommy Goffin, BGIn
3 ) Lunch
4 ) Survive in the game industry by Stefan Baier, Streamline studios
5 ) Create a game in 60minutes from Charles Cox, Developer Educator Microsoft XNA
6 ) Break
7 ) Call to Action from Luc Van de Velde, Director developer Microsoft Benelux
8 ) Multiplayer game, Networking (resume of point 5) from Charles Cox

The presentation of “Create a game in 60minutes” was really amazing. For myself I didn’t have the time yet to get some experience with XNA, so this was the best chance to have a view of some good skills from a professional. Charles Cox was the presenter for this. He created the asteroids game in 60 minutes without copy pastes (what I thought before the start). Never thought that this could be done in such a short time… Okay, he had the textures and the models but beside that it was really good explained. It’s an amazing person with great presentation skills. The public is getting excited and isn’t falling a sleep, damn I like such a presentations! Hope to see him again in the future… or maby on XNA European Tour 2.0 with XNA 3.0? ;-) Nice work Charles!

At this moment I can’t wait to start creating a game, it’s definitely on my TODO: list.

The XNA European Tour was a great opportunity to get in track with XNA and game development, at the end of the day i had a completely different view on creating games. Thanks to all presenters for their work, thank you Microsoft to make this possible!

See you next year? ;-)

  2. I’m still wondering what that green autocomplete is from Charles. (It was used with the foreach …)

But indeed Charles did an excellent job!

  3. @NiFkE: type foreach and after the “h” press 2 times TAB. Get some experience with it. You’ll find it.

@Charles Cox: Thank you for your comment ;-)
